One way that gets my 3 week old to burp is the sit her on my leg and gently straighten her spine it works every time where the other ones do not for us ๐Ÿ˜Š or I lay her on my chest then gently rub upwards along her spine and that works too

An addition to this make sure you use plenty of burping blankets, paper towels ๐Ÿงป and keep a mop. Donโ€™t wear clothes you wanna mess up

Burping and this obsession with it, is just a Western cultural thing.
In other cultures, they don't have the belief that you have to spend ages fixating on getting a burp out or your baby will be in dire straits.
I decided to adopt the attitude that if my baby burped , then so be it, if not, not to worry.
I sat her up after feeds, leaned her forward and thumped her back gently over my shoulder. Sometimes she burped Sometimes she didn't. I laid her down to sleep anyway, and she fine. Other people were horrified and crapping on that I should've "burped her properly". Well, she was fine. It was never an issue. Some babies don't need parents walking around for hours agonising over a frickin elusive burp.

I'm so paranoid with burping my newborn and don't want to try over the shoulder until she's older due to her neck. I'll try the circles now and over the leg once I've healed a bit better.
