I've never really used swaddling extensively. A little bit at the very first, just to help handle my precious baby. But, after a few weeks, I didn't swaddle really at all. I also thought that letting the baby have their hands available is great. It actually helps me today she has her hands to rely on. 😁

Excellent information, but you lost me with your views on EMF.

Anyone with even a fundamental understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum can tell you that anything that is emitted by everyday devices poses no risk to humans. This has been studied for decades. There's a lot to be worried about with newborns and children, but this isn't one of them.

That's a load of sh**t about the phone causing cancer. The rest of Bridget's advice is very sound!

great advice, im due in about a month and Thi info is super helpful.
    * minus the emf blocker, my husband works in this field and there is very little evidence that emf blockers work, and in some cases can increase emf ( when used improperly) – specially the "stickers" you list.
the blankets and covers completely covering body, is the only way currently to achieve this. ( which Is pretty difficult to do).

i hope people don't take these things as gospel. there are many reasons tight swaddling is the recommendation. your baby has no "friends in the womb". we tight swaddle BECAUSE it mimics the womb. it encourages longer, more comfortable sleep. it prevents the moro reflex as others have stated. tight around the arms and looser around the hips is the recommendation because it prevents scratching, it allows neuromuscular development and prevents hip dysplasia allowing natural hip and leg motion. The most important reason to tight swaddle arms is to prevent SIDS by keeping the child on their back and preventing them from rolling over when they don't have the strength to right themselves if they can't breath from rolling on their face. also, too loose at the top and it can cover their face after motion.
important to note, you should stop swaddling when they show the ability to roll.

also there's no conclusive evidence at all on harm from emf or rf. there's some evidence to suggest susceptibility to ELF (extreme low frequency), but this is not something ever found in households.

Here's data, something that's missing here:
    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9748185/
    https://hipdysplasia.org/infant-child/hip-healthy-swaddling/
    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16061584/

Overall, ask your qualified pediatricians.these are the people qualified to give this advice.

Can you provide any examples of the best baby monitors? I haven’t seen what you mentioned. I’ve been very hesitant about the emf.

Dont get too caught up if you made one of those mistakes. It doesnt mean you’re a bad parent, correct the mistake to your best abilities and keep taking care of your child❤

I really love that you said the parents job is to offer safety and comfort for them to fall asleep and their job is to use that opportunity or not. This applies to so many things in parenting.
